kindy room - 3 to 5 years
Daws Road Early Learning Centre – Kindy 3 to 5 Years
In our Pre‑school/Kindy room, children aged around 3 to 5 years begin their final chapter of early learning before heading off to school. At Daws Road Early Learning, we offer a vibrant, play‑based program that nurtures independence, confidence and a lifelong love of learning. These years are filled with remarkable social, emotional, cognitive and physical development, and our caring educators are here to support and celebrate each child’s unique journey.
Our Pre‑school/Kindy room offers two programs delivered in partnership with the Department for Education and Child Development (DECD) and led by qualified Early Childhood Teachers:
- 3‑year‑old Flying Start Program
- 4‑year‑old Kindergarten/Preschool Program
Our program operates 52 weeks a year. The Kindergarten/Preschool component runs across four school terms, with core program hours from 9.00am to 4.30pm. Outside these times, our service continues to provide engaging, developmentally appropriate programmed activities from 6.30am to 6.30pm, ensuring continuity of care and learning for every child.
Educators & Environment
Your child is supported by a qualified team of educators who specialise in the early years, with a warm, respectful and responsive attitude.
We provide a vibrant, well-resourced indoor and outdoor environment, designed to challenge and engage 3–5 year-olds: from dramatic play spaces, literacy/numeracy corners, STEM investigations, art & sensory zones, to natural outdoor exploration areas.
We strive to create strong partnerships with families: regular sharing of learning stories and reflections, open-ended conversations about your child’s growth, and collaboration in planning transitions to school.
✓ Daily opportunities for cooperative play, group projects and independent discovery. Children are invited to experiment, create, and learn at their own pace while working alongside friends
✓ A stimulating environment where children can explore literacy, numeracy, problem-solving and creative thinking in meaningful and fun ways.
✓ Strong focus on social and emotional development: children learn to express ideas, negotiate with peers, make decisions, and develop resilience.
✓ Outdoor learning and exploration in our garden and play spaces — learning through movement, nature, and real-world experiences.
✓ We believe children learn best when families and educators work together.
✓ School-readiness preparation: children are gradually introduced to routines, independence skills, confidence in self-care, and becoming learners who ask questions, make choices and engage actively.
Transition to School
We know the transition to school is a meaningful milestone for children and families. Throughout the Pre‑school/Kindy years, we work closely with local Kindergartens and schools and take part in transition programs, readiness checklists, portfolio sharing and special events that help everyone feel confident and excited for what comes next. Our Kindergarten/Preschool program ensures children are supported to develop strong foundations for learning, wellbeing and independence. Our qualified Teachers are dedicated to making the transition smooth and successful, and we love partnering with families every step of the way.
Your Child’s Journey
We believe that children flourish when they feel safe, supported and connected. In the 3–5 year stage:
They build stronger friendships, become more confident in expressing themselves, and discover themselves as capable learners.
They begin to ask questions, explore big ideas, test out theories, and see themselves as contributors to their classroom and community.
They gain foundational skills for lifelong learning — for example curiosity, persistence, collaborative thinking, and a sense of agency.
