Our Founder / Approved Provider

Alexandra “Sandy” Hands has worked in the childcare industry since 1975 and holds a Childcare Certificate from the Department of Further Education (TAFE). She is the Approved Provider and operator of the family run Unley Early Learning Centre and Daws Road Early Learning Centre.
Sandy is a mother of two adult children and grandmother to three boys. She has served on various industry and community committees and brings extensive experience across a range of leadership roles. She is recognised for her high standards, strong team building approach, and commitment to quality care, healthy environments, and family centred relationships.

Director

Rhianna Hedley has worked in the early childhood education sector since 2001. She holds a Diploma in Child Care and a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education, reflecting her long-standing commitment to high-quality practice. Rhianna is involved in the community with several volunteering positions. As the daughter of Sandy, she continues a strong family legacy in early learning.
With over twenty years of experience as a Centre Director, Rhianna leads with a strong focus on quality practice, meaningful relationships, and a curriculum that celebrates the joy of learning. She believes that early education should be engaging, play based, and fun, creating an environment where every child feels confident, curious, and supported.
Rhianna is a mother to three boys and a step mum to a young adult, bringing warmth, empathy, and lived experience to her leadership and brings lots of understanding to her work with children , families and educators

Educators

Our Educators have one of the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor in Early Childhood
  • Diploma in Children’s Services – or equivalent
  • Certificate 3 in children’s services

We look to employ Educators who are professional and have a strong commitment to caring for children and who have enthusiasm, energy and alertness to observe children in all situations. Educators are encouraged to attend professional development trainings to achieve awareness regarding new or updated standards. Educators are an important source of information. We also regulary host work experience and university students as part of our commitment to high standards within the industry.

All educators are required to hold a current Working With Children Check and undertake Child Safe training. They also maintain up‑to‑date First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certifications to ensure they can respond confidently and safely in any situation.
